Race for the 1000 pound bench press

World-record bench presses have come a long way in recent years, assisted in no small way by the rise of the bench shirt. Whilst Scot Mendelson lifted an impressive 875 - setting a new world record - in June last year, Gene Rychlak Jr recently hoisted a staggering 965 lb at the IPA World (video - .swf, 3.5MB). Weighing in at 380 lb, Rychlak is no small player himself.

1000 lb is starting to seem within reach, at least for a couple of people out there. No doubt the Inzer marketing team is already working on an 'Inzer 1000' range.
