Two and three

Almost back to normal. I’m switching back to the standard Westside 4-day per week routine, as used previously. The only changes likely are a slight modification to the list of exercises (things like chin-ups, for example, are out for the time being - the rack’s touching the ceiling as it is). I’m also leaving the bands boxed for now as I’m not too sure how they cope with regular temps below freezing (if anyone has any thoughts on this, I’d love to hear them).

Oh, while I think of it, thanks Blaine. The hot towels definitely took the edge off. Not only on the bar, but also the plates. Looked like a poor man’s F1 tyre warmers :)

The second half of the workout was pretty quick; only a few sets of accessory work for this morning’s rack pulls. The GMs were fine (will definitely bump up the weight on these), the DB rows were more difficult than they should have been. Time to squeeze in a bit more lat work.

Good Morning 10@20/44, 2×5@40/88, 2×3@50/110
Dumbell row (each side) 2×10@25/55

nice to see you getting back into the swing of things.

im not sure about the bands - but its probably a good idea to keep them out of the sub zero temps.

i have the same rack as you but havent tried this - would it be possible to put the j-hooks near the top and use the barbell to do chins? i suppose it depends a bit on how tall you are.

Might give that a go - the main problem is that there’s a bench stuck permanently in the rack. Not quite sure how much height that gives. Will find out tomorrow.

You’re welcome; I’m glad that the towels helped. I hadn’t thought about using them on the plates. And now that I know it will work, I will have to remember that trick when my fiancé starts lifting at home in January. (The apartment can get pretty cold at times, if not as cold as your garage.)
