Whether you're enjoying a session in the home gym, local park or somewhere a little more commercial; make sure you're wearing one of these.
It’s been a few months since I last gripped the bar sans-gloves, and with temperatures routinely in the 5°-9°C range now it felt like the right day to give it a go. I was in the mood for a few rack pulls (which I’ve been trying to avoid recently due to their greater recovery needs), so I kept them moderate. Also did a little pre-exhaustion work, just in case I got carried away.
Zottman curl 2×20@6.5/14 (each side)
Fingertip push-up hold (untimed, probably about 40 sec)
Gripper work (CoC T and 1)
Rack pull (sumo, below knee) 20@60/132, 2×10@100/225, 6@120/264 (looks like the pre-exhaustion helped - was hoping for 10)

Hello,
I see you add COC to your workout. Very cool. How you finding them? I have them all up to the no.4. Haven’t used them in a long time though.
Good workout by the way. As for the Rack Pulls - i’d go all out!

I don’t mind the CoC grippers, but don’t use them all that often (after losing them for a while I just found them the other day, buried in the garage). I wouldn’t mind an IMTUG : have you tried them yet?
Incidentally, how far up the CoC line can you close?

I’ve never tried the IMTUG before. Looks pretty cool though. i have seen it before not in person but pictures and someday if i had the money to spare i would buy one to try it out.
As for COC, i haven’t spent consistent time training with them. I have came pretty close to closing the no1, and partially closed the no.2. The no3 and no4 i just bought for fun and to try negatives with.
I have small hands and to be honest i find it hard to close the no.1 and no.2 at the end - as in, my fingers need to close the last 2 inches as my hands aren’t big enough to go all around the whole gripper - if that makes sense.
I’m sure its possible for me to close the no.2 but that will take some time and lots and lots of practice.
Once the summer kicks and i get time off, i’ll try my best to get into more grip training with the COC.

Summer? In Glasgow? You must be thinking of those two weeks we sometimes get in April :)

good work scott, i found my grip strength improved alot once i ditched the gloves, hopefully with the CoC work aswell you should see a marked improvement.
nice on the rack pulls

Think I’ll leave the rack pulls in the bulking phase - despite the recovery overheads (could feel the effects for a couple of days afterward). Grip work is definitely something I need to get back into.

That still sounds much too cold to be lifting, with or without gloves.
