High rep rack pulls

More digging this morning. I decided to think of this as pre-exhaustion for some rack pulls I’d been thinking about since I woke up (I often awake thinking about some variety of deadlifting). This time I started them a little higher than the last workout - slightly above the knee.

Unfortunately, even though my overall strength doesn’t seem to have suffered at all over the winter, wearing gloves hasn’t done my grip any favours. Looks like more grip work later.

Rack pull (sumo, above knee) 2×20@20/44, 2×20@20/132, 20,12 @100/225 (got to build up that endurance), 2×5@140/308

Just like you, I often have deadlifting on the brain. I don’t know exactly what the appeal of this lift is… limited technical requirements coupled with the sheer effort involved equalling a true test of strength, perhaps?
Nice job on the rack pulls and also on your previous overhead shrug workout…

P.S. - Ditch the gloves and invest in some chalk. It might even help to keep your hands warm (?)
As a former basement lifter in a cold climate, I know well the feeling of cold iron on bare hands…

Not a bad idea John. Will let you know how it goes.

Oh, and about having deadlifting on the brain, I think ‘true test of strength’ is pretty close. Picking up heavy stuff is always good.

Yeah, I have to agree with the chalk for deadlifting there, Scott. The bar wants to slide in my hands with gloves and that’s NOT cool. I would warm them up between sets with a soft throw blanket or a few inches from a space heater.
