More room to work with

A clearingIn a couple of months I’ll be relocating to Australia (slight change of scenery) and spent a bit of time this morning clearing out the garage a little. This finally gave me enough room to shift the bench out the way and do some full range deadlifts.

That extra range makes a big difference - I was starting to feel out of breath by the sets at 100kg. Looks like I’ve got some work to do.

WOW…what’s the cause of that? Thought you’d bought part of this house that you are currently in? New job?

2

That’s a big change. Hopefully, for the better. Are you and your partner splitting ways on the house? Anyway, good luck!

3

Change is always good. Don’t like to stay in one place for too long - too many things to see. Time to experience a bit of warm weather for a while :)

4

Wow, just as I’m going north, you’re going south. Having now been to Oz I can see its appeal. NZ holds a similar appeal to me and I intend to go back there, thought we would go see a bit more Europe and make some money :)

5

That is a big change. What are you going to do with your weight equipment? Will you reconstitute down under?

It does not completely surprise me though. You’ve never liked the weather in Scotland. BTW, yesterday I pretty much flew over you on the way from Amsterdam to Detroit. Still owe you that t-shirt. How long till you move?

Steph, having done this twice (lived in the UK for a few years then gone back to oz to defrost) I can definitely identify with that sentiment. Best of luck. Is the long-term goal to have a house in Edinburgh and another somewhere in NZ?

Bud, I don’t actually see it as a big change. Apart from the physical distance, there isn’t that much separating the two countries. It feels the same (to me) as simply moving to another city.

As for the weather, I love it. I’m just not used to snow - I still stand outside with my mouth open when it snows here. As for the weights, yep. Sell here and re-purchase essentials locally.

Re: t-shirt - plenty of time. I’ll be here for another couple of months.

Make sure to get a bigger garage, Scott:)

8

Indeed I shall Alberto. Don’t think I’ve ever seen one so small, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

I think the plan is to get back to New Zealand eventually, really like it here the lifestyle is (for want of a better word) nice.

We’re not dreaming of buying in Edinburgh, but we’re gonna save up and get a deposit together for a nice place in New Zealand eventually.

It’s funny when you move accross the world and it’s really quite similar, only my wife will be the one with the funny accent. :)

Good luck for your move too, where you off to in OZ. I’m pretty enamoured with Melbourne, it’s a great city. Was almost tempted to go for NZ citizenship to move over there, but decided to come back to scotland instead.

Not sure where in oz I’ll end up - at the moment I’m considering the extremes of Hobart (which has a similar climate to Edinburgh) and Darwin (nice ‘n’ toasty). Melbourne’s great; although I’m not sure I’d want to live there. It always feels like a holiday destination rather than a home to me.

Oh Steph, rest assured that you BOTH have funny accents :)

ach, dinnae be takin the pish mon. :P

Ah, new powerlifting vistas ahead! Very much looking forward to seeing the new gym come up. :-) Best of luck with the move!
