24 year-old Tanzanian Dickson Marwa was the first to cross the line in this year’s City to Surf. This was the 36th running of the famous Sydney half-marathon, and Marwa narrowly missed the race record time - by just 46 seconds - completing the event in only 40 mins 49.
Not bad at all.

I wish I did - I actually missed the race this year.

40:49 for a half marathon? That ain’t walking…in fact, that would be low 3 minutes per mile. I did not really believe that, so I looked it up and it is only a 14 kilometer race (slightly more than 8 and 2/3 miles)
A half marathon is 13.1 miles, or about 21km.
My best is low 70s for an actual half marathon.
That’s a nice race, right there, even at 14km. 4:41 miles is nothing to sneeze at (if much more believable)
