Kim Wood's gymWhat would you have in your perfect home gym - if there were no financial or space constraints at all? Free weights, machines, kettlebells; a mix of all three perhaps? Just a large lifting platform, a bar and a pile of bumper plates?

While you think about your own idyllic workout environment, here’s a look at some of the gear I’d have in mine.

Outdoors

Of course, there’s always a steady supply of things that’d simply be great to have; but the above setup would keep things solidly going for a very long time. How about you, what would you have in your perfect gym?

For me, all I’d want is a stereo, a decent amount of open space, and a bar with lots of weights. That’s the core of it. Add weight vest, a bench and power rack, some dumbells, and ideally something like a reverse hyper. The lat pulldown/row pulley is awesome for upper body strenght. That might be a requirement.

Yep, I think I’d definitely add a weighted vest and a reverse hyper to the list. Thanks for mentioning them.

Speaking of weighted vests - has anyone found a good DIY version?

as a martial artist I think I would have to go for a MMA cage (so when my sparring buddies can come round) a matted area to practise drills, an area for different types of bags, and of course a massage room with a hot lady!
