Snatch Training Part 1

There’s been some superb stuff in the CrossFit Journal recently - and this is no exception. Nick Hawkes takes a brief look at Snatch training.

Ready to bend some steel? Grab a copy of the Diesel Crew's Bending eBook. Superb.

I’m interested in learning the olympic lifts, but concerned about doing it on my own without a trainer. What does everyone think about self-taught lifts? Crazy? Dangerous? Or okay?

Tough to do without a trainer. I have had some training in the snatch and it was great help. My first trainer moved out of the area and the second was too far away. As it is now, two other friends and myself are practicing the lifts on our own. Get some video, watch some at sites like Crossfit. Mike Burgener’s instructional videos at the Crossfit site and his at mikesgym.org are very helpful. If you can gets someone to train with you, then both of you will have some eyes on. Hope that helps. The lifts themselves while technical are a lot of fun. Good luck!
